Thank you for an amazing 6 months.

At this time we have discontinued the FREE Grocery delivery Program. Initially, this program was meant to be a short term response to COVID-19, but with the dedication and support of the Dwell Care team and community partners we were able to keep this going for 6 months. Thank you to our wonderful clients we were able to serve from March – September.

We still can provide Home Care and Caregiving services at a great rate which can include personal care and concierge services such as grocery shopping, meal preparation, and household help.

Free COVID-19 Assistance to Help Older Adults

in Portland Stay Safe by Dwell Care

The outbreak of COVID-19 has created uncertainty and risk, and in these unprecedented times, the health and wellbeing of our older adults is our priority.

We are offering free grocery deliveries and dog walking to help older adults to achieve greater social distancing and stay safe.

Here's how you get a delivery through Dwell Care:

Call/Text in Delivery

Call in Delivery Request and choose an available delivery time Usually within 1-2 days.

Day of Delivery

Wait for a phone call from the volunteer who’ll be completing your delivery, so you can confirm with them exactly what you need and where you need it from. Also, if there are substitutions needed. We want to make sure we get it right!

Payment in one of three ways:

Call the store in advance to place your order, and pay with your credit card over the phone (be sure to let them know someone else will be picking it up on your behalf!);Provide your volunteer with cash before they complete the order;Reimburse your volunteer (via app, cash or check) after they pick up your items.

Listen for a phonecall and the doorbell to ring as your volunteer drops off your food and steps at least 6 feet away from your door! Your receipt will be in the bag.

General Safety

Our Volunteers are our employees who:

Have had a background check locally and nationally

Volunteers are instructed to take every CDC-approved safety precaution:

including:

  • Washing hands frequently with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds,
  • or using hand sanitizer; Delivery Protocol Volunteers make as little contact with their recipients as possible during deliveries:
  • Volunteers place items at the door and either knock/ring the doorbell, or call the recipient, to inform them that their order has been delivered.
  • If items have not already been paid for, payment to the volunteer will be exchanged either via cash, check, or a digital payment app such as Venmo or Cash App.

Health Guidelines

Not every COVID-19 carrier is symptomatic, and we can’t completely eliminate risk. We’ve implemented the following safety guidelines to minimize any potential transmission of the novel coronavirus.

Every one of our volunteers confirm that they:

Are not exhibiting any signs of compromised health (e.g. runny nose, cough, fever, etc.);

Have not come in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days;

We provide our volunteers with gloves and face coverings during deliveries and recommend that they avoid touching unnecessary items and utilize self-checkout options where available.
